TMRS: Well, if you were a kid growing up in the 70s, or even the early 80s, The Bugaloos were a ubiquitous presence on your television screen. Of course, the tv show launched in 1970 by Sid & Marty Krofft featured four young actors and singers; that’s right, The Bugaloos: were they a tv show, were they a band? They were kind of both, and kids all over the world loved them. And I was one of those
The music paid off because you snuck into the Hot 100 here in the US with “For a Friend”.
Caroline Ellis: Yeah, we did… I remember it going up in Billboard, and I can remember, if I remember correctly, in Seattle it got to
TMRS: Well, all those ingredients worked because the show was a hit with all sorts of product tie-ins and comic books, and there was a big launch and you did the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
CE: Oh wow, that was unbelievable. None of us had seen anything like that. You may have parades in England or London or any city, but nothing like that.
